Reading Polls
„Der SPIEGEL“ (the magazine, not the website) had an article about germans and their relationship to christian faith.
Part of this article was a poll: Which persons or organisations do you trust ? Now, we all know that poll results tend to be skewed, especially in terms of the questions asked. I find it amusing that a discounter chain rates as highly as the pope for example. What I find highly disturbing though is the last item on the result list. Let me emphasize it:
7% of the interviewed persons trust the Political Parties.
If I reverse this, 93% do not trust them. Considering that Germany is a democracy, and that the political parties even made their way into our constitution, and are thus supposed to be quite important in the political process, this is highly disturbing, even frightening. One wonders how legitimate our government is, if one would assume this poll to be representative.
